Car accidents happen. Even if you take all the necessary precautions and drive perfectly, someone else may make a mistake and you find yourself involved in a car accident. Injuries in a car collision can range from minor soft tissue damage to something more severe or even permanent. Because of this, as a driver, you want to make sure you are taking all the steps to ensure you do not cause an accident.
Another factor you likely do not even consider is the car model you drive. There is data that points to some car models being more accident prone than others. Yes, this is not a joke. In a study by Insurify, which examined data from more than 4.5 million auto insurance applicants, some vehicles rank much higher on the list of being more prone to accidents.
We will showcase the list in the following article. However, it's important to remember that no matter the cause, you need to immediately seek medical attention after an accident and consult with an experienced car accident attorney. Brandon J. Broderick has represented countless clients involved in car accidents across the states of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. We have decades of experience and can help you recover compensation for your losses.
What Cars Are The Most Accident Prone?
The research study determined that the car model with the most accidents in 2023 thus far is the Audi S4.
Why does the German luxury sports car land so high on this list? The group discovered that S4 drivers are among those who receive the most speeding tickets and have accident rates that are 54% higher than the national average. Afterall, they are controlling a sporty vehicle with more than 350 horsepower.
The S4 has an 11.7% at-fault accident rate, which isn't shocking, but if you look at the "family friendly" brand Subaru, it is featured three times on the Insurity list with the turbocharged WRX, the XV Crosstrek and the Impreza. The Impreza actually performed better towards the bottom of the list and has an accident rate of 10.3%.
Cars On This List Were More Likely To End Up In Accidents
7.6% of American drivers had at least one collision in which they were at fault in the seven years prior in 2023. The average at-fault accident rate for drivers of the cars on this list was 10.5%, making them 1.4 times more likely to experience an accident that they were at fault for.
The list is as follows, counting down to the models with the most accidents reported:
- 10. Subaru Impreza - 10.3%
- 9. Kia Niro - 10.4%
- 8. Chevrolet Silverado LD- 10.4%
- 7. Subaru XV Crosstrek - 10.5%
- 6. Subaru WRX - 10.7%
