Thomas Edison Center
The Thomas Edison Center is located in lovely Menlo Park and has an assortment of original artifacts and unique displays to enjoy. Menlo Park was once a research and development center for the inventor, who brought the future to life. He considered this location to be his "Invention Factory" and created the phonograph and the first successful light bulb in Woodbridge.
Menlo Park was also the home of Edison's machine shop, built by Babcock & Wilcox, a company still operating today. With the work at this facility, Edison lit up Christie Street, which was the first street in the world to use incandescent bulbs for lighting. The way we live was forever changed by the Edison Light Company and the fantastic inventions developed by Mr. Edison.
Tours of the museum are given Thursday-Saturday, from 10-4 pm. Be sure not to miss out on this historic site-- the last tour begins at 3 pm!
