Geography of Leola, Pennsylvania
Leola is located in the middle of Lancaster County, predominantly in Upper Leacock Township and extending east to the southeastern corner of West Earl Township. Leacock is located in the western portion of the CDP, Leola in the center, and Bareville in the eastern portion. Groffdale, a minor community, is located in the easternmost portion of the CDP. The community is bisected by New Holland Pike (Pennsylvania Route 23), which leads west 8 miles (13 km) to Lancaster, the county seat, and east 5 miles (8 km) to the municipality of New Holland.
The Leola CDP has a total area of 6.0 square miles, of which 0.01 square miles, or 0.14 percent, are water, according to the United States Census Bureau. The communities are located on a low, east-west trending ridge that drains north to the Conestoga River via tributaries of Groff Creek and drains south to Mill Creek, a westward-flowing tributary of the Conestoga that flows into the Susquehanna.
