Geography of Huntington, New York
Five harbors—Cold Spring Harbor, Lloyd Harbor, Huntington, Centerport, and Northport—are located along the town's northern shore. The Town maintains a total of nine beaches, including its coves and bays. Additionally, the Town has opened three marinas for locals to utilize. Residents of the Town have access to these facilities, as well as boat ramps, public golf courses, and park locations, for active enjoyment.
The Town's population is currently estimated at 203,264, and its area is roughly 93 square miles. In the Town, there are four officially recognized villages: Northport, Asharoken, Lloyd Harbor, and Huntington Bay. Cold Spring Harbor, Elwood, Huntington, Huntington Station, South Huntington, Melville, East Northport, Halesite, Dix Hills, Centerport, Greenlawn, and Fort Salonga are a few other notable unincorporated localities in the Town.

Huntington experiences hot, humid summers, bitterly cold, snowy, and windy winters, and partly overcast days most of the time. The average annual temperature ranges from 25°F to 82°F; it is infrequently below 11°F or above 90°F.
