Greystone Park, Lake Hiawatha, Lake Intervale, Lake Parsippany, Mount Tabor (also referred to as "Tabor"), Parsippany, Powder Mill, Rainbow Lakes, Rockaway Neck, and Troy Hills are unincorporated communities, localities, and place names located partially or entirely within the township.
Mount Tabor and Lake Hiawatha are neighborhoods with their own ZIP codes. In 2000, 55 percent of Parsippany residents had a ZIP code of 07054. In 2011, residents of Parsippany could have resided in one of twelve ZIP codes. Prior to the year 2000, Parsippany had a thirteenth ZIP code, which was eliminated due to modifications at Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital.

The 2010 United States census recorded 53,238 residents, 20,279 households, and 14,094 families in the township. The population density per square mile was 2,259.3 people. There were 21,274 dwelling units at a density of 902.8 per square mile on average.
30.9% of the 20,279 households had children under 18; 58.3% were married couples living together; 7.9% had a female householder without a husband present; and 30.5% were not families. Individuals comprised 25.0% of all households, and 7.9% of those individuals were 65 years of age or older. The average size of a household was 2.58 and the average size of a family was 3.14.
20.8% of the population were under the age of 18, 6.3% were between the ages of 18 and 24, 29.7% were between the ages of 25 and 44, 29.4% were between the ages of 45 and 64, and 13.7% were 65 years of age or older. The average age was 40.5 years old. For every 100 females, there were 97.1 males in the population. There were 95.7 males for every 100 females aged 18 and up.
